There’s nothing quite like the sound of ten women clucking their way through Sydney on a hens weekend!
High pitched chatter, loud shrieks and loads of air kisses and hugs filled the QT hotel foyer as we arrived in a flurry of excitement. The hotel was the perfect pick with its glamorous chic decor, it’s upbeat New York vibe and its amber glow and mood lighting reminiscent of a jazz bar from the 40’s.
We had arrived in heaven! This boutique high end hotel was home to celebrities who flock there from all over the world including regulars like Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom and Ricky Martin.
We were set for two days of girl time. Ten hens flown in from
Melbourne who were all there with the same agenda. To celebrate with the beautiful bride and show her a party to remember.
Bar hopping our way through Sydney was no mean feat due to their being so many options available! Starting at the cocktail bar at the QT, we all indulged in some decadent cocktails (the tommy sparkles tippler) served in ice cold copper mugs followed by some fragrant rose petal champagne cocktails.
Moving on we were spoilt for choice as we ambled along George St in search of a cool bar that would cater for a large group of clucking hens! We were lucky to find a cool little underground whisky bar called Baxter Inn. Be warned, this bar’s not easy to find. Walk down a dodgy looking laneway (opposite the Redoak Boutique Beer Cafe), turn right, head down an even dodgier looking staircase, push open the non-descript door.
This place is all about one thing – whisky – with 300 different whisky’s on offer. But, don’t fret if you’re not a whisky enthusiast – there’s an impressive wine list, beers on tap and classic cocktails to keep you hydrated. Good to know, the dapper barmen are more than happy to educate you on your whisky choices, should your whisky knowledge not be quite up to scratch. Baxter’s is dark, cosy and inviting, the kind of place you could get lost in for hours. The perfect place to end our first day.
Saturday, we awoke to blue skies and sunshine so what better way to start the day than with a trip to Coogee Pavilion. This Merivale pub is the most iconic bar in COogee. Overlooking the beach with surfers doing their things below, it’s a fun and relaxed pub/outdoor and indoor rooftop pavilion which features four indoor and outdoor bars, a sweeping balcony boasting wraparound views of the Coogee shoreline and a mouth-watering Mediterranean menu.
Later that night we stumbled into the cozy but awesome Palmer & CO for some quick shots before hitting the dancefloor next door at the infamous ESTABLISHMENT. A bunch of over 30 something women buying bottle after bottle of champagne made for some raucous fun! But, after a big day of drinking in the sun and dancing in high heels, the ladies all called it quits at 1am and made our way back to the QT for some room service and fluffy robe action (not the saucy kind, no pillow fights on this trip sorry lads!
The End.
